Logen's Story

Logen loves to play Wii Monopoly.  His favorite subject in school is science.  He is 8 years old and in the second grade.  As Logen and his mom were checking in tonight, he asked his mom if he could take the stairs instead of the elevator up to their room.  As Logen raced up the stairs, he waved down at his mom and laughed.  With such energy, it's hard to believe that Logen has cancer.

Every week, Logen and his family make the 6-hour drive to Sioux Falls to receive chemotherapy treatment.  Logen was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.  He and his family live in a small town about an hour north of Rapid City.  Depending on the kind of treatment, Logan and his family stay in Sioux Falls any where from 2 to 5 days per week.  Matthew, Logen's father, said, "Putting a quarter in the box takes on a whole new meaning; you never know when it might be you who needs it!"

Tonight as I sat with Logen and his mom, Danette, in the community kitchen at the Ronald McDonald house, Logen was heartedly devouring his buffalo wings.  After that, they headed down to the game room to play some foosball.  What an appetite and zest for life this 8 year old has!  What a blessing it is to work for such an awesome organization--truly, a home away from home.

  1. I've been browsing online greater than three hours nowadays, but I never discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It's lovely price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will probably be much more useful than ever before.
