They’re small. No bigger than a quarter and worth less than a penny each; but, these little pieces of shiny aluminum make a huge difference in the lives of families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House.
Last year, those shiny little pieces of aluminum raised over $7,400 for the charity. Suddenly, plucking that tab off my next soda seems like a great idea! The pop tab donations we do see are from all over! In the last month, RMHC has received donations from Willow Lake, SD; Sturgis, SD; Jackson, MN; and Spirit Lake, IA. It’s amazing to see how one pop tab turns into a room full of buckets of hope.
The pop tabs that are donated help the charity to pay for energy bills and other expenses. This aids in providing a home away from home for our families with sick and injured children who are receiving medical attention at area hospitals. We love to watch our storage room continually fill with more and more pop tabs.
It continually reminds us that, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted,” (Aesop).
