Taking it to the Community!

The Ronald McDonald House was delighted to represent the charity at this year’s Sanford Rare Disease Symposium at the Sanford Center on Saturday, February 25.  The event was set up to create awareness within the community about the rare disease research and advances in diagnosis and treatments being developed.

RMHC set up a booth to promote our charity—a link in the chain of aid that is available to children and families who are sometimes dealing with rare diseases.  We offered a glimpse into what we do and provided many options on how to help the hundreds of families who stay at our charity every year including our awesome pop-tab program, Caring Cooks, a wish-list, our holiday Adopt-a-Family program, and other fun activities for groups and individuals.  Throughout the day, we chatted with 8 year olds (who loved our golf games!), advocates from different rare disease groups, and medical professionals.   We even had some visitors to the booth who had previously stayed at one of the many Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the nation.
From important doctor visits and high risk pregnancies, to emergency situations and cancer, Ronald McDonald House Charities is an open door for children and families.  It is only through our wonderful supporters (YOU!) that we can make such a huge impact on the lives of our guests.  Thank you!
